York County Amateur Radio Club March 2, 2025 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 1500 hours by club president Susan Richardson, KC1BSQ. Those present at the meeting introduced themselves.

Presentation

Brad Brown (KC1JMH) did a presentation on supplying power in the field. He discussed the various batteries and their characteristics. Brad also showed ham equipment he uses in the field on battery power. The presentation was well received by the members and guests.

Announcements

Tony (AA3HD) announced that he sent QSL cards for ones received from Winter¹ Field Day. It was also announced that membership dues were due in January and payable through March 31st

Approval of February Meeting Minutes

Jack Brennan (K1NKS) mentioned that the Trolley Museum date was incorrect, and that we needed to check with Bill (KB1CAT) to confirm an exact date in August for the event. Dave (AA1LO) will check with Bill to firm up the date.

Minutes were approved with the above exception regarding the Trolley Museum date. Motion to approve by Tony (AA3HD), seconded by Ed (K1RID), and approved by member vote.

Treasurer’s Report

Ernie (KB4EFX) reported that the club has $1,308.25 in the checking account. He also stated that he has not been receiving bank statements and will contact the bank to straighten out the issue.

Motion to approve report by Brad (KC1JMH), seconded by Rick (KB1ASM), and approved by member vote.

Public Information Officer’s Report

Rick (KB1ASM) reported the following actions:

• Bill Lord’s Winter Field Day video was posted on the W1YCA Facebook page on February 5th.
• Boat Anchor photo posted to Facebook page on February 16th.
• Photos from Winter Field Day posted on January 25th and 26th.
• Results of Facebook posts: 115 “likes” and 24 comments

Motion to approve report by Brad (KC1JMH), seconded by Rick (KC1QYX), and approved by member vote.

Old Business

The location of Summer Field Day was revisited due to updated information about facilities. After discussion, a motion was made by Rob (AA1BS) to select the Hollis Recreation site. The motion was seconded by Rick (KB1ASM) and approved by member vote.

Brad (KC1JMH) gave an update on the website. He stated that it is still in process and will be moved from Bluehost within several weeks.

New Business

Members discussed adding a CW segment to the monthly meetings. Dave (AA1LO) will build a code oscillator and do a demo of it at the April meeting. Ed (K1RID) stated there is a CW QRP net on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 3.560.
